Web Hosting Resellers

A ‘reseller host’ is a phrase which refers to multiple types of hosting on the internet. This term is not used to define the type of Web Hosting, but more to define the type of person providing the service.

A hosting reseller operates by procuring large blocks of web space from large web hosting companies and then sells off chunks of this accumulated space to their own customers. They are more or less mimicking the services that are usually offered from web hosting companies but they are eliminating some of the expensive overhead that usually comes with running one of these large companies. There are several sites that like using Hosting Resellers. Some of these are web hosting companies that are just getting started, businesses that have many websites, and Web Design businesses that want to provide hosting for their customers.

Hosting resellers will offer their services as dedicated solutions, shared, or VPS (see part two). Clients are usually able to take advantage of more inexpensive Web Hosting, since Resellers usually get their Web Hosting at a cheaper cost. The primary downfall of purchasing hosting from a reseller is the fact that your hosting company is beholden to the company which actually provides the hosting space. When they offer more advanced hosting services they will usually have more technical support capabilities to match this, but if you run into a problem that they cannot solve with their tech support then they will have to elevate the problem to the larger hosting company which can take lots of time with all of the bureaucracies involved.

Dave will only find reseller hosting to be useful if he figures out that he can sell hosting services to other people or if he thinks he can expand his portfolio of sites. If Dave does not intend to do one or the other of these tasks, he should most likely stay with Shared Hosting. This is the most popular kind of Hosting and one that will provide him with the benefits he needs.

For now though, Dave thinks he is happy with a single site, he would just prefer to have more control and performance as his site is getting quite busy and he has a few demanding redesign plans in mind.
