I started with a cheap mat that I purchased through a discount retailer. It lasted only a few months and a handful of yoga sessions so I decided to upgrade to this one. I also didn’t agree with some of the other reviews saying it was too heavy. It’s a bit heavy, but not too much to carry around all over — I made a carry handle from a yoga strap (looped over both ends of the rolled up mat) and throw it over my shoulder. I have been using it on carpet but on the hard floor should be better. I am doing the beach body program and this is the only mat they recommended.
